Founded in 1969 Glegg Manufacturing Pty Ltd is a Family Owned Brisbane based Company, producing Rainwater goods for the housing market and has become one of Brisbane ‘s premier sheet metal processing companies.
The investment in larger and more versatile machinery over the years of operation has expanded and increased the capacity of Glegg Manufacturing. This includes our ability for custom designed profiles for architectural clients, and with their history in the Roofing industry has become a preferred manufacturer for restoration work on some of Brisbane ‘s iconic heritage listed buildings such as the old Woolloongabba Police station, the original Qld Museum and the Department of Primary Industries Building.
In the early 1980’s the installation of a 6m x 200 ton press brake and a 6m x 8mm plate capacity guillotine allowed for repetition of long length cutting and folding to cover the larger requirements of the building industry. This increase in capacity has enabled Glegg Manufacturing to be on the forefront of QLD industry. This approach to industry has enabled Glegg Manufacturing to participate in projects such as the Stanwell Power Station for Boral Structural to the Expo Space Needle 1988, High volume production of specialized sections for one of Australians leading Ceiling and Framing systems manufacturing company. With the closure of the Asbestos Roofing industries we under took the process of manufacturing the old Super 6(Hardies) profile and the Wunderlich profile in various metal formats. This opened up the export market as yet underdeveloped.
In the 1990’s Glegg Manufacturing added to its base in the Rainwater water goods and sheet metal industry to use its specialized equipment to assist in the production for a new Light Pole Manufacturing Company and lifted its production upwards to 100t of steel per month. During this period we have maintained our contacts with the grass roots of the company and continued to work on specialized projects for various companies and Architects.
With the increase involvement by Chinese production companies impacting on the Australian market, once again through 2000 Glegg Manufacturing has had to diversify its customer base to remain in the market undertaking work such as the Robina Hospital shade awnings and various other innovating projects.
To the present day Glegg Manufacturing is still a family run business, giving customers the opportunity to deal directly with the owners of the company, and draw on their experience of 40 years of finding solutions for people in the building industry, mining, motor racing, aviation, public artworks, and the manufacture of one off prototypes.
New technologies presented opportunities to extend their service to the metal industry and into new markets so in 2000 Glegg Manufacturing introduced a Flow IFB UHP (integrated flying bridge, ultra high pressure) Waterjet to their workshop, founding Australian Waterjet Cutting as a division of the parent company.
